This simple box is made of an uncommon wood from Central Africa known as bengi. An assstractive wood, it is fairly coarse grained so that even ten coats of acrylic lacqueer still have the grain showing.

It has cocobolo handle and brass hardware.

The color, style and shape make it a good decorator piece.
